Sporting clubs

Meet the clubs that make their home here

The Edwardstown Club facility is set between several of the areas sporting clubs and we are proud of the long term relationships they have in the local community.

Edwardstown Bowling Club

The Edwardstown Bowls Club commenced in 1960 and was the home to bowls worlds champion Scott Thulborn, a current member of the national team.

We have over 70 members with a great mix of both men’s, women’s and mixed teams. Teams play on Saturday, Wednesday and Thursdays and our popular Bare Foot Bowls is on Wednesday nights

One of biggest attractions to our club is its inclusive and friendly nature right across the age range. Lawn bowls is all about learning to control finesse and how to be part of a team, both skills which are valuable in everyday life. We even provide coaching for any new people keen to learn the art of bowling.

Socially, we all get together and enjoy a sip and a laugh and there are a multitude of social functions to take part in.

Our new redeveloped home at the Edwardstown Oval will provide the club with spectacular playing and viewing positions with a roof deck view of the greens, bar and function facilities that are the envy of most other clubs.

South Road Cricket Club

The South Road Cricket Club was founded in 1940. Over it’s nearly 80-year history, The Roads as we are known, have always played a part in our community. Our players share this pride and are happy to represent us through any of our three teams. Our playing group extends from teenagers right through to players in their 60’s. When we are not playing, we have a wide range of social functions that members and guests attend.

We are looking forward to a bright future in the redeveloped Edwardstown Club and invite anyone keen to have a bowl or handle the willow to get in touch and become part of the Road’s future.
